Spinas Wiedergabe der Sonate von Bernd Alois Zimmermann ist nicht nur im Hinblick auf die geforderten spieltechnischen Details phänomenal, sondern kann darüber hinaus auch in Bezug auf Klarheit und Sorgfalt ihrer Formung musikalischer und klanglicher Strukturen stellvertretend für die gesamte Produktion stehen. Faszinierend ist es, den energetischen Prozessen zu lauschen, die Spina unter der Oberfläche des jüngeren Stücks (Sciarrino: ai limiti della notte) aufdeckt, um sie zu verwischten, flirrenden Konturen zu formen. Noch eindrücklicher geraten allerdings die 'Notturni', bei deren Wiedergabe die körperliche Komponente der von Sciarrino eingeforderten Virtuosität – vor allem deren unauflösliche Verbindung mit dem Atem und den Bewegungen der Musikerin – sehr deutlich, geradezu mit bildhafter Prägnanz hervortritt.

The Bernese violist has made these works so much to her own that the lines of creation and recreation have been swept clean. Whether it was the elegant virtuosity of the high tone texture of Salvatore Sciarrinos "tre notturni brillanti" or the warm viola intonation of Gérard Griseys "Prologue", the exceptionally lively musicality was always directly transferred to the public. In Wyttenbachs "Trois chansons violées," her powerful use of mimic furnishes a solid coherence. Anna Spina’s performing aptitude was allowed to shine in Georges Aperghis' "Photomaton-Commentaires," a musical theatre work, which allowed the musician only to be seen via live- video in a peepbox.

Für den Erfolg verantwortlich sind neben den gut klingenden Instrumenten das Engagement von Anna Spina, der Initiantin des Violaförderprojektes. Die Violapädagogin am Konsi ist selber eine begeisterte Musikerin und versteht es, ihre Klasse mitzureissen und zu motivieren. Für ihr Schaffen als Musikerin erhielt sie 2009 den Anerkennungspreis des Kantons Bern.
